Under the auspices of the JJ Rawlings Foundation, the Founder and CEO of the Atta-Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, joined hands in a tree-planting exercise at the Achimota School, on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
In collaboration with the Forestry Commission of Ghana and Achimota School, the JJ Rawlings Foundation planted over 500 trees as part of the creation of a new Aboretum for the school.
Proceeding the tree-planting exercise, was a very colourful and brilliant drill by the Achimota School Cadet Corp – to which Rawlings belonged during his days as a student at the same school.
Interestingly, the Founder and CEO of the Atta-Mills Institute, is also a product of Achimota School just as his late boss, President John Evans Atta-Mills.
Nobody can deny the fact that JJ Rawlings was a strong advocate for environmental preservation and spent a whole year after he left Office serving as the United Nations’ Special Envoy for the fight against malaria.
Present at the event, were the children of Rawlings – Ezanetor, Yaa Asantewaa, Amina & Kimathi, as well as their mother, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
Also present, was the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Honourable Samuel Abu Jinapor and many other persons who were specially invited for th e epoch-making event.
